Has anyone seen Phantasm? In a theatre?

I remember Phantasm, because I saw it in a theatre when I was a kid. It frightened me! Who the hell was that Tall Man?! And that silver ball with blades and drill! Ugh! That was ultimately scary! I can't see almost screen.

And now....

Finally DVD came out, and I saw it tonight again. 27 or 28 years later, now I thought I can see it perfectly, but even now I felt it scary, and creepy. When Mike cut Tall Man's fingers, yellow blood spewed! Ewwwww!!! I recalled nightmare......

I never got to see Phantasm in the theater, but I did see Phantasm 2 there. Unfortunately, Phantasm 2 is the only Phantasm that has yet to see a DVD release in the US, which is odd seeing as how 3 starts right where 2 left off.

Karl,

I've never seen Phantasm 2. Was it scary?

I have never seen a Phantasm film from start to finish, though it's been on 'in the background' once or twice so I know what you're talking about.

It always looked a bit cheap n stoopid to me. Do you think that you were scared of it becasue you were a kid when you saw it, or would you recommend it as a good film to hunt out?

I accidentally dropped a load of worthless change in the street. I was going to just leave it there but a burly policeman lumbered towards me and said, "You'd better pick that up, son."

I hate coppers.

Oh, because you've never seen it in a theatre.

And you should check this with DTS sound system in a dark room. The sound effect spooked me, too!

Cthulhu for President!

Why vote for a lesser evil? I can think of none better than the great old one, who should return from his slumber to take over the U.S. government and make this country a whole hell of a lot better as the leader of our executive branch. Or destroy it and drive everyone insane, kill us all, or something really nasty! Remember, Cthulhu for President, why vote for the lesser of two evils? Wink

I remember enjoying it in the theater way back when, and a couple of times on VHS. I remember it being scary and cool, but I'm also looking at 15+ years of hindsight, and cannot recall exactly. This is why I want it on DVD, so I can watch it again (without having to eBay a PAL copy of the ultimate box set that was released).

Saw it many times on the big screen. I wonder how many people got the reference to Herbert's "DUNE" (the box)?
