But Jack could have acted differantly, that is if you believe in free will. If not, then his destiny has been written and he has no say in the matter. IMO...He was tested and responded in the right way.

Jack's destiny has been written. It's called Nightworld, no? :confused: We all know where he's going and whose side he's gonna be on when he gets there. Any other 'tests' that are thrown at him hev pre-determined outcomes.

It could be that it is an alternate time line, as you said, like a parallel universe of Jack's world. We know one possible outcome, but a decision somewhere could have caused a split, we know one split, and the new night world is the other.
