Wapitikev Wrote:With 500 entries by over 40 users, it certainly seems like anything posted on the Repairman Jack Wiki (to say nothing of any other FPW-related page) could last mere minutes before someone else messes with it.
So http://www.everything2.com is less volatile? I'll have to check it out.

Wapitikev Wrote:Corwin over at E2 already has a page for Repairman Jack. At first blush, it's a bit dated, with Huanted Air as the last published Jack title.
How do we proceed there it there is already an entry?
[I was sure there was a beating-a-dead-horse smilie there the other day]

If the pages are edited less then it's becasue the entire site is quieter than wikipedia.

bones weep tedium Wrote:...I was struck by how scarce the info on wikipedia is about RJ and FPW's books in general.
Is wikipedia the bee's knees? :dontknow: But it's so popular that it's criminal that FPW is so underdeveloped over there...
Silverfish Wrote:I think we should make a Wiki Sticky, and then all ideas can flow through there.
Wapitikev Wrote:I have had a look at the FAQ for E2 and there is a way to Assimilate outdated articles (they call them Nodes), but if we need to keep watch to make sure that someone else doesn't file a Nuke request on our Node, then we may as well simply police our own Wiki entry.
As far as getting into editorial battles with others on Wiki, how can one idiot who posts something weird contend with a dozen or more people from this board constantly changing it back to what it should be...since we all have agreed what it should be in advance and it is accessible to us, here, at any time.
Sheer weight of numbers should be enough to defeat any opposition.
And it's not like we aren't stubborn enough to win those battles.
So, as much as it pains me milewinkgrin:, I must cast my lot with Bones and begin working on Wiki edits. I volunteer to help draft the Demonsong entry...anyone want to edit it when I'm done?

tenebroust Wrote:I agree that a Wiki work is a good idea but you fail to realize the point I was making all along. If the masters there feel that your piece is not up to THEIR standards they can change it AND ban your IP address if you persist in editing against their own policy. They're a bunch of megalomaniacs over there. Strength of numbers would mean nothing since all of our IP addresses could be blocked. I may be overstating this whole thing but I just really hate the way they run that site and the way that the super-editors get to decide what is "right" or not. So maybe I'm biased.
