lexator222 Wrote:Hey, Gang!
Just got on here, and want to say, what a GREAT board!
I just finished reading (for about the 12th time) "The Tomb" and the ending
gave me a piece of de ja vue!
Has anyone noticed (or is it just me) that the ending of "The Tomb" is VERY similar to the 1986 film "Aliens"????
With Jack holding Vicks on his hip on one arm, and with a flame-thrower in the other hand, working his way thru the bowels of the Rashoshi nursery, and burning as many creatures as he can, trying to leave the ship before the bombs that he planted blow them all to kingdom come....it seems like James Cameron is a big RJ fan, and stole the whole ending of his movie from our beloved Mr. Wilson!
Or am I just being paranoid?

Lex, I never thought about that before, but you are =exactly= right! Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! But this old fortean wouldn't call it a rip-off on anyone's part...call it, uh, "synchronicity." Yeah...that's it...Wink

I think it's obvious. American Gangster is a direct ripoff of The Big Lebowski. And of course it's clear that The Big Lebowski steals directly from Towering Inferno.

And no one is doing anything about it!

It's OK, now, Mike. The Lithium is kicking in.

I dost apologize, good Nick, if mine outburst doth offend thee.

Heh.

I'd go light with the jests, Wap. There are several souls on the board who don't quite remember where they were on 11/22/63. Not me, of course! Why, I remember ex

Libby Wrote:How true.Big Grin One of the reasons FPW is so amazing is that he takes the familiar and makes it unfamiliar. Jack is similar to these chiches, but not similar enough to be the same. At all. Think of any movie or book or what have you, and if you look you will see something similar.

Absol*freaking*lutely!!!! Who said that everything that CAN be written HAS been written?
There is NO body out there that is like Jack, not even close! That is the ONE and only reason that I want MORE....MORE......MORE!!!!!

Ya hear that FPW???
