Actually keeps you wondering till the end if they're actually gonna sign the Declaration. =)

A Few Good Men
Wonderful all aroud, plus you see Tom Cruise doing Jack Nicholson in a Jack Nicholson movie. =)

The Shawshank Redeption
Always good for bringing me up when I'm down.

Unbreakable
Possibly M Night Shaymalan least know, and I think his best.

Titanic
Historically well done, and visually stunning, at least to me. I know many don't like it, but I can watch it anytime.

Volsh

I like Titanic, too. Smile

To me, M Night Shaymalan's best movie is "The 6th Senses". Nothing compare to it.

RichE Wrote:any movie with Gene Evans.

Nurse: "Oh, isn't this a lovely shade of pink?!"

Chief Malumphry: "Please Ma'am, I'm trying to eat."

Tom Danby: Pa, you been touchin' up your hair again?

Pa Danby: Whadda ya mean, AGAIN?

Tom Danby: Nothin'. It just looks better in spots, that's all.

Pa Danby: Whadda ya mean, SPOTS?

Comedy, drama, he could do it all.

One of those character actors you just couldn't do without.

Especially Gene Evans in a war film directed by Sam Fuller. Also here's another goodie:

"AIR FORCE" Great Howard Hawks movie.......

Do you think we should add "THE KEEP" to the list?

"WAKE OF THE RED WITCH" one of the darkest of John Wayne's films in which he plays a very tortured lead role.

"THE LAST CHASE" Lee Majors and Burgess Meredith in this great little low budget movie from Canada.

"SHADOW OF THE HAWK" Jan-Michael Vincent and Chief Dan George in a very well done film about Native American magic.

"CRACK IN THE WORLD" Dana Andrews in a very intelligent disaster movie from 1965.

Way of the Gun

Snatch

Mystery, Alaska

Black Hawk Down

It's an 88 magnum. It shoots through schools.

"IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE" I have seen it many many times in 3D and watch it in 2D (with the stero soundtrack up!) via laserdisc (part of many given to me by a fellow who I'll never forget for this act of kindness!) and have to marvel that Ray Bradbury's ethereal poetry whispers all through this film despite Harry Essex's tampering (Ray said the final film and dialoug were pretty much intact). One of the best, but sadly ignored in the genre.

"THE HUNTERS" Robert Mitchum as a tired recalled pilot during the Korean War who still loves conflict.

"THE MEN OF THE FIGHTING LADY"

"THE BRIDGE AT TOKO-RI"

Reading this whole thread from start to finish, I'm a bit surprised that there aren’t more horror movies (less than half the posts). One can of Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper to everyone who listed at least one horror/monster/disaster movie; a six-pack to everyone who listed more.

My additions:

Aliens (“I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.” CLASSIC!)

Event Horizon (HPL would have been proud, Mr. Eisner!)

John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness (Aches for a remake with modern special effects!)

Armageddon (“I was just trying to have some FUN before I die!” -Steve Buscemi; ‘nuff said)

Guilty Pleasures:

Tremors (The best horror-comedy made, on purpose, between Ghostbusters and Shawn of the Dead)

Night of the Comet (Red dust! Awesome!)

Axioms Jack seems to live by (inadvertantly or not):

Why he does what he does: "I chose this life. I know what I'm doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however, isn't that day. And tomorrow won't be either." Bruce Wayne, Identity Crisis

On Rasalom: "Water's wet, the sky is blue...and good old Satan Claus, Jimmy...he's out there...and he's just gettin' stronger." Joe Hallenbeck, The Last Boyscout

When I started this thread I wanted to include as many old favorites that aren't horror/scifi. My tastes run from not only to fantasy related but serious dramas to comedies to docudramas.

Here are two others my wife and I love:

"THE DESERT FOX" and "THE DESERT RATS" with James Mason giving a steller performance as the famed Field Marshall. The later film mentioned starred Richard Burton.
"THE PRINCE OF PLAYERS" with Richard Burton as Edwin Booth

"DOCTOR FAUSTUS" starring Burton. Great filmed version of the play!
