And speaking of lightweight actors, I have added Ben Affleck to my list of Directors that I would accept for the Rakoshi movie...Gone Baby Gone was one of the better dramas I've seen this year. It has 8.0 on IMDB...that puts into the top 250-300 movies of all time...on-par with Rocky, Shaun of the Dead, Planet of the Apes, Magnolia, etc.

Why not Roger Donaldson? No Way Out is a decent film (though it's dated really badly) and there wasnt anything wrong with The Bank Job, it just wasnt very good is all. Also, 13 Days was a pretty tight little film, I remember liking it when I saw it at the cinema many years ago.

The only thing that's a bit iffy about Donaldson, is that he's only done a couple of films. What is he, a part-timer? For someone with so many recognisable/decent films on his IMDb page, it doesnt go very far...?

PS: You forgot to metion how you feel about the possibility of Brett Ratner directing. His Red Dragon was better than Jonathan Demme's ham-fisted bodge-job on Silence of the Lambs! I think he'd be hella chill as the RJ director. Need I also remind you he was the visionary genius who brought us Rush Hour 3....

Been lurking for a while... thought I'd chime in.

I love Guillermo's stuff, but I don't want ANYTHING else distracting him from doing "At the Mountains of Madness" - not even the Jack project.

As far as being able to direct action and character, I'm leaning toward John McTiernan (Die Hard, Predator, Hunt for Red October).

I wonder how much is going to be able to be spent on a director though. If the studio wants a "big name" for Jack, the budget may prevent hiring a higher-profile director. Frankly, I'd rather see the opposite - a relative unknown playing the invisible-in-plain-sight Jack with a more recognizable director.

So are they actually going to do the Mountains of Madness HP Lovecraft story into a movie?That would be awesome..I think that the carnage displayed in Feast should be the essence of the carnal violence that the Rakoshi are. Im not saying I want it directed by that person who did feast, but seeing a little kid get eaten in one gulp like that,torn from his mothers arms..Not many try a scene like that, but that should be how you portay a Rakosh, pure and malevolent instinctual violence..Not to say that a Rakosh cant think, seeing as how Scarlip outsmarted Jack in All The Rage, in the pine barrens wasnt it? I still think Desmond Harrington as Jack.. I also like the idea of Julie Benz as Gia, though she may be slightly too old. She plays a mother with quiet strength and a caring and nurturing demeanor on Dexter. I dont know about him playing Jack, but could anyone see Michael C Hall,(Dexter) playing anyone else in The RJ movie? I just want some opinions...damn I hate it being so cold outside, with no snow..I want to see a wasteland of white...(X_V)

Ratner single-handedly destroyed the Dark Phoenix storyline, one of the best comic book story-arcs in history, and flushed a great movie franchise down the toilet.

But at least I'm not bitter.

The reporter in Hosts who writes the Subway Saviour pieces for the Light...although I always seem to see Jack Black in that role.

Ha ha, that's an amusing idea! I never really thought of who'd play Sandy Palmer, but Jack Black would be a great choice. Even though he doesn't really match the book description, he'd be plenty annoying. C Hall seems a bit... intense for the role.

If Black was ever casted though, I don't think the studios would [spoiler]allow his character to get killed off[/spoiler]. And I must admit, I think I would agree with them.

But it's a bit iffy on the directing, lately has hasn't been too good, I mean The Village and The Happening were just horrendous storywise and the The Happening has terrible acting, but who can forget The Sixth Sense? That is an epic movie, think of an RJ movie like that, but with some more action haha, and who says we can't have two directors? One for horror and one for action?

Actually, I still consider Unbreakable to be M. Night's best work. A hell of a lot better than Sixth Sense.
