Gary Oldman for sure but also Robert DeNiro

I didnt even know that was him in "The Mission"
Cape Fear, Awakenings, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, the Deer Hunter

Excellent choices so far - especially my favorite, Chris Cooper. Like Maggers, I've been a Chris Cooper fan since Matewan.

I'd add Robert Duvall to the list. The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Great Santini, Tender Mercies, Lonesome Dove, and Secondhand Lions to name a few brilliant, chameleonesque performances - the man is truly gifted.

My top 4 are Edward Norton, Gary Oldman, Johnny Depp and Chris Cooper.

None. The light from the burning monastery is more than sufficient.

Saw some people looking at this thread and was aghast to see that Sean Penn not mentioned by me. For my money, he is the finest actor of our generation and completely disappears into his roles. Yeah I know he's kind of a scumbag as a person(or at least that is how he is portrayed by the media)but that doesn't discount his abilities as an actor.

If you want to talk about a man with a thousand accents, let's talk about Peter Ustinov. As good as Sellers was, Ustinov was head and shoulders above him -- like doing an Affrikaner Dutchman speaking English.

How about that guy who only looks like William H. Macy, but he's not. I mean, c'mon, he's not William H. Macy. That guy!

They passed an old woman who was just opening the door of a brown Cadillac. An old man was already sitting in the passenger seat. The car had a personalized plate with the letters “J-U-S-P-R-A-Y”.
“That stuff work?” Israel said to her.
“‘Scuse me?” the little old woman said, clutching her keys.
“The spray. Does it keep them away?”
“Keep who away?” She looked confused.
“I gotcha.” Israel gave her a conspiratorial wink.
