I'm having a 50's sci-fi/horror week with my son this week. We watched THEM yesterday and just finished The Thing From Another World. We'll finish it off with The Creature From The Black Lagoon later this week. It has been many years sinced I viewed either of the first two and of them, THEM was easily my favorite; it still holds up well. Perhaps The Thing From Another World suffered from me just having seen John Carpenter's remake(one of my favorite movies), but it just didn't quite hold my interest where I was into THEM throughout. I'm curious about what my reaction to The Creature From The Black Lagoon will be, as I recall it being my favorite monster movie from my childhood, but like the other two, I haven't watched it in years.

Caleb liked them both.

I haven't seen it in twenty years or so but I've always liked the sound they made.

Oh yeah! I like THEM too! (Japanese title is "Radiation X"). When I was a kid I saw it, and I still remember those huge ants. I have DVD of "The Creature From The Black Lagoon".

My favorite 50's sci-fi/horror are "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "The Beast From 20000 Fathoms". Did Caleb see them? Smile

CftBL had Julie Adams -- she was a knockout then (when real women had curves) and I think she's still a knockout. Her unwitting pas de deux with the creature as she swims above and he below is still one of my favorite movie sequences of all time, no matter what the genre.

Neither, but thanks for the suggestions. The hunt is afoot.

The entire expedition is what I remember loving the most. There's something about murky water that really stirs my imagination.

That's the only part I really remember from the movie, watching it late at night on Creature Features with my brothers. Cool monster.

I always enjoyed watching the movie, Them. Sunday mornings at 11, there was always a creature feature. It didn't matter if I watch them over and over. One of my favorites was Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein. Funny and monsters too. What more can a sci-fi fan want?

We watched it last night and loved it; the entire movie is the expedition. It must have been longer ago than I thought because I could have sworn that they captured the creature and took it back to civilization where they put it on display in an aquarium from which it escapes to wreak havoc. Was there ever a sequel made? I couldn't find anything at imdb except that a remake is planned for 2008.

Haven't seen it it years, but I recall the creature having been captured too, and in one scene he was behind a chain-link fence staring longingly at the sea. At least that's how I remember it.
