I just finished the entire first season of HEROES. Very enjoyable! I wasn't disappointed by the finale. I had begun to read some of these threads and so many people mentioned how they were let down by the ending that I was expecting something far worse. It worked well enough for me.

I do have a question though. I thought Peter and Sylar were more or less on the same level of absorption of powers. Well, Sylar stole peoples' brains and Peter just stood next to them, so right there, that's a major difference in the absorption of powers. But I thought the results were the same. In the finale, Sylar was simultaneously able to stop bullets and reverse them, forcefully repulse both Bennett and Hiro, and pull a parking meter out of the ground. Then Nikki (? is that her name?) came over and smacked him around with it. So if Sylar could do all that, how come Peter couldn't? Not enough practice?

As far as Peter not being able to fly his fiery self away, well, he was having so much trouble not bursting into flame that I didn't expect that he'd be able to get the fire in his eyes under control AND fly, let alone fly effectively.

Either way, it didn't matter to me. I took the show at face value, sat back and enjoyed it. But I was on the edge of my seat quite often.

I must say, Sylar is a hell of a villain. I had nightmares! That pale, dorky guy with those big doe eyes is about as skeevy as you can get in a very bizarre way.

OK, now I'm on to the first part of Season 2, which I'll have to watch online.

That's what I figured. Plus, with his telekinetic powers, he could hit someone just as hard without actually touching them. Smile

If you really like the show, you should be reading the (FREE) comics each week at the NBC site http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/

Also, the fansite http://www.the-owi.com has some good stuff there as well, like fan fiction and fan art, plus some interesting contests.

Thanks for the information. I do like the show well enough, but I'm not crazy about comic books. I was when I was a little girl. I know many people here love comics, or whatever the PC term is for them now. But I think I'll just watch the show. Smile

I'm not sure if the term is PC, but a collection of related stories (or very long original) is called a "graphic novel."

Bah! Those of us who love them call 'em "comics" or "books". Too monstrous an ah-deer for you, pally?

Fine. Be that way. Wink

I know that the "graphic novels" or comics have saved me during this off-season from the show.

By the way, they're thinking (for those that follow the show) that the ending of the last episode will be the end of season 2, since the season was interrupted midstream by the strike. They're going to have to tinker with it a bit, but it made a good season finale. Smile

I should have chosen the online version, I checked out the trade of the first 34 episodes from the library and lost it-now it's going to cost me $25.00. I did think they were cool though and added to the show.

Some of the things from the comics helped solve questions I had about the show. My dad had a hard time following some events, and I kept saying, "Saw it in the comic." Big Grin

I recently heard that they're going to have to scrap their plans to do an "Origins" miniseries. They were going to play a few episodes and let fans pick a favorite new hero to add to the show. Now it's been sidelined until they get the show back on track.
