Locke will be really pissed, but only because if Jack and his guys are successful, then the jamming signal goes down, they contact Desmond's rescue ship, and get away from the island. Locke doesn't want anyone to escape the island. Since the show goes for another three years, I'm assuming that they don't get rescued just yet.

Good episode. Have to feel for poor old Charlie. But here's the thing: obviously we didn't see Desmond's flash of Charlie's impending doom, and we know that the Looking Glass is supposed to be flooded, but it wasn't. Does this already mean that Charlie hasn't done exactly as Desmond's flash saw him do, and, as such, won't die because things didn't play out the way they were supposed to? And why was Desmond suddenly so keen to go down there? Was it just a last minute case of 'do the decent thing' or did his flash tell him something else? Hey, maybe he saw the two gun-wiedling women down there and wanted to... ahem... do the decent thing for them too.

Maybe the real question is: was Desmond lying about his vision? Because we saw all his past visions, but not this one. Perhaps he was up to something...

Did we though? We definitely saw Charlie get the arrow in his neck but we never saw Charlie drown after trying to save Claire and we never saw him being struck by lightning. We just heard it from Desmond.
That said, I agree that he's up to something. It just didn't seem right that he was suddenly so willing to go down to the Looking Glass instead of Charlie. I think Desmond has his own agenda and he's just using Charlie to get what he wants.

I remember seeing the lightning strike Desmond's lightning rod but I don't remember seeing it strike Charlie in a vision. I don't remember seeing them, either. I remember seeing flashbacks, but I don't remember seeing Charlie die except for the arrow in the neck.

We saw the arrow hitting Charlie in the neck and Desmond swimming out to get someone who might have been Charlie or might have been Claire (I'll have to watch that one again). We didn't see the lightening actually striking Charlie; it was intimated but not actually seen.
