I think you're right. I enjoyed yesterday's episode and found it touching, as it was meant to be. Who knew there'd be "mermaids" guarding the underwater hatch? Big Grin They always suprise us with the completely unexpected.

Why didn't Charlie die!? I was all ready to finally have Charlie leave and now I have to wait another week! Or even another year!! But it was still good episode, I just can't believe Charlie beat Desmond with the paddle
But I guess he wanted to be sure Claire and Aaron would get off the island (although without the DS ring).

Maybe such a tiny thing as not wearing the DS ring, or not being able to pass it to his child, or not being able to pass it to Claire's child, screwed up Desmond's vision. I have a feeling that we won't know until January 2008 whether Charlie lives or dies.

Did any of you guys watch the Lost special on last night (Thursday)? It was called Lost: The Answers.

Not a very accurate title, let me tell you. The only things the producers assured viewers of are:
  1. The survivors are not dead or ghosts; "they are alive within some part of reality" (or something like that)
  2. They are not in purgatory
  3. The survivors are on the island to reinvent themselves and make past wrongs right
  4. In the Lost "end game" the connection between the survivor's past, present and future will all make sense
  5. Locke is special
The rest of the show was yet another recap. Although they did show stuff I had forgotten about.

Anyone else have comments or insights?

I didn't watch it. We watched Sponge Bob and the Red Sox. Most of that is stuff they've already said, though. They've said a million times that the characters are not dead or in purgatory or in another supernatural place. People just don't listen.

I'm glad Locke is special. Wink

It was something like "they are most definitely alive in the space/time continuum as we know it."

I didn't know this show was on, otherwise I'd have recorded it. I was swimming and missed all but the last 5 minutes.

Quote:Locke is special.
He sure is and he is the only one who will be able to beat Ben. Ben has to be beaten at Ben's game, and no one but Locke can do it. The ending will be Ben vs Locke.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

I watched it. Mostly lame. However, I get the impression that they purposely make things appear to be strange, mysterious, and out of this world -- then come up with a "real world" explanation. Like that first year with the "island monster" that turned out to be a polar bear, yet how could a polar bear be on a tropical island? Oh. The Dharma guys had a small zoo and were experimenting with animal intelligence.

So no ghosts. No Black Rock Pirates living forever. Yet, I still wonder how Locke can walk.

The island monster is still unexplained. The noise, the quaking trees, the black smoke, all of that is, for me, the unexplained island monster. It's the monster that Locke witnessed up close and personal in the first season and later tried to pull him into a big hole. But for Jack and Kate holding on to Locke for dear life, it would have. Eko also faced it down in the second season but it came back to kill him eventually. The island monster even terrorized Juliet and Kate when they were handcuffed together in the third season. So, the island monster ain't no polar bear, and it hasn't been explained.

I agree with Maggers, the island monster is a separate thing from the polar bear. They also made it look like it "might" be a wild boar at one point, IIRC.

I dislike being negative about this show but that was the lamest thing I've seen in years. I despise when people get knocked out with just one whack. I prefer repeated whackings. Did he even hit him on the head? Looked like he got him on the side of the face. Desmond has now surpassed Mikhael as the biggest wimp on the island.
