Although that's an interesting idea since Desmond may have changed the outcome by not letting Charlie die. Until I get another look at that scene, I am temporarily assuming it is someone Penny sent to look for Desmond.
I had so forgotten about Ruth that I hadn't a clue as to whom you guys were talking about. But that's the Scots girl Desmond left at the alter before he joined the monks. Desmond was not altogether a well-wrapped individual, even before he got to the island.
I thought the person in the helmet is somewhat dark skinned, and really does resemble Sanjaya.

Too true; that's the first thought I had when I heard "brother" out of the brother's mouth.
And that photo on the brother's desk did look photoshopped, but I think it's supposed to be the real deal, whatever that may be on this show. I thought the white-haired woman was a figment of Desmond's imagination when she appeared in the long ago episode where she told Desmond all about his fate.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.
