Note: This is a thread for us EXCITED fans, who ARE looking forward to the new Indiana Jones movie, who DON'T think that the franchise - and of course Mr. Ford - is too old. If you have "meh" stuff to say, take it elsewhere, please. On with the excitement!

From JoBlo.com:
-------
Rumor has it the movie will start shooting in June, and if Box Office Mojo is to be believed (and let’s face it, they know their numbers), Paramount Pictures has slotted INDIANA JONES AND THE CREAKY FRANCHISE for Thursday, May 22, 2008.

UPDATE from Spielbergfilms.com -- the release date is official, and it's a WORLDWIDE release on that day.
-------
HOORAY!!

Do we know what this movie is about? I hope it is comparable to the first and third installments.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

It better have the classic special effects and not CGI.

Wow. Finally. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with. It will have been 19 years since the last film....

As a fan of the franchise I'd say I'm guardedly optimistic. I'd also like it if they went more 'old school' with the effects.

I've been watching the progress on this for years (getting Ford & Spielberg to commit, script writing & scrapping) and am damn excited for it! I'm really curious what they finally settled on that has that "Indy Jones-semi-supernaturalness" that made the first and third cool and the second so dumb (IMHO).

So this one is going to take place in the 60s, right? If they hold true to form then Indy is going to wind up running around in Vietnam, I'm thinking.

They passed an old woman who was just opening the door of a brown Cadillac. An old man was already sitting in the passenger seat. The car had a personalized plate with the letters “J-U-S-P-R-A-Y”.
“That stuff work?” Israel said to her.
“‘Scuse me?” the little old woman said, clutching her keys.
“The spray. Does it keep them away?”
“Keep who away?” She looked confused.
“I gotcha.” Israel gave her a conspiratorial wink.

It's kind of a grunt/sneer with a definitely "I could care-less" attitude behind it. It's pronounced exactly as it's written, all soft and non-commital like. I also always see a shrug of one shoulder when people say "meh".

He said he wanted EXCITEMENT! not meh. If that makes sense.

Oh man, that could be VERY cool!

I also hope they stick to the old-style special effects. That was a big part of the charm of the first three. Remember how they had a little airplane cutout moving across a map to show where Indy was going? Now that was straight out of 1940's movie making, so there's no reason they should feel pressured to use computer effects in the new movie, right? Right??
