I also hope they stick to the old-style special effects. That was a big part of the charm of the first three. Remember how they had a little airplane cutout moving across a map to show where Indy was going? Now that was straight out of 1940's movie making, so there's no reason they should feel pressured to use computer effects in the new movie, right? Right??
Sorry, but the Viet Cong are just nowhere near as good (and archetypal) of an enemy as Nazis. (Sorry if that is too "meh" of a post.)

Maybe Indy will be involved in tracking down Nazis hiding throughout the world.

But he's supposed to search for treasure. Unless some Nazi has the notorious Green Monkey's Balls I don't see how you pull it off.

They passed an old woman who was just opening the door of a brown Cadillac. An old man was already sitting in the passenger seat. The car had a personalized plate with the letters “J-U-S-P-R-A-Y”.
“That stuff work?” Israel said to her.
“‘Scuse me?” the little old woman said, clutching her keys.
“The spray. Does it keep them away?”
“Keep who away?” She looked confused.
“I gotcha.” Israel gave her a conspiratorial wink.

I would think the Cold War would be a more likely topic than Vietnam. I agree that the Nazis are hard to top for bad guys, though.

I would think that very effect will be computer-generated now, but I doubt we'll be able to tell. It's like the scroll-up at the beginning of the Star Wars movies. The new ones are computer generated while the old ones were done optically. But I can't tell the difference.

I agree, though, that I don't want to see any obvious CG effects.

That's right, webby! Wink

I especially like the last scene that special effect in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Flying ghosts, a melting head, a blown head, a lightning and fire....when I saw that scene in a theatre first time, I felt chills in spine.

He said he wanted EXCITEMENT! not meh. If that makes sense.

Hah, thank you, Stephanie! Couldn't have worded it better m'self.

Someone I know online found this. It seemed appropriate to this discussion.

For anyone who cares, they are also coming out with a LEGO Indiana Jones game, along the lines of the LEGO Star Wars and upcoming LEGO Batman games.
