Thanks Kenji! Black Wind is one of my all-time favourite books. This really helps me visualize the places in the novel.

Kenji, I'll say again that it's great to see these old photos to help us better imagine "Black Wind."

I have a question for FPW. Paul, did you spend a lot of time in Japan researching "Black Wind?" Did you travel to all the places in Kenji's photos?

I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, FPW has never been to Japan.

He did a lot of research . . . and got it right.

Yeah as Ken V stated I beleive FPW answered this question before and said something along the lines of the Japan he wrote about no longer existed in Tokyo and that he never visited Japan only did lots of research from afar.

I was blown away by this as I lived in Japan for a while and I think Black Wind captured the American/Japanese differences better then anything else I have ever read. Not that FPW needs to do anymore to impress me as an author but the fact that he never visited Japan and still was able to write Black Wind blows me away.
