My problem with Gia, and I do have one, is that she is too perfect. She's just the best. Her short, perky blond hair feathers just so. Her blue eyes always gleam, except when they are brimming with tears as she looks at AIDS kids, or lost puppies or anything else guaranteed to make anyone cry. As I've stated a few million times, she wouldn't be caught dead farting or burping, even in private. I wonder if she CAN move her bowels; maybe she is so perfect she can live without that function. I bet she doesn't have bed hair in the morning or wake up with crusties in her eyes.
I just don't think Gia is fleshed out enough. She has flashes of anger when someone tries to push her around (think outside Dragovic's beach house in "All the Rage" when Jack had to sling her over his shoulder to keep her from attracting too much attention). But what else? What other "negative" trait have we ever seen in Gia, aside from her rejecting Jack early on because of his chosen field.
I don't think FPW has given her the kind of time and distinction that he's given to other characters.
But, since Jack needs someone to care about, someone to bring out the humanity in him, I guess Gia is here to stay.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.
