Be easy in your mind, BEJim--Gia ain't goin' anywhere. And welcome to the board.

Sorry, Bluesman...I am of a different opinion. BEJIM, why are you so in love with the G-girl? If Jack wasn't with her, the plot lines could go SO many diverse places!

Well, RJ's devotion to Gia is part of his character and what makes him RJ. At the same time, Gia seems like she is becoming unimportant as her own character -- and RJ's life does seem to be full of tragedies.

My problem with Gia started when it was OK to be Repairman Jack, but ONLY when it was to her benefit. She saw him as scum before that, and I think she still does...wants to force him to become a legitimate person. She should be his "partner", which FPW does in Haunted Air, but I think that a MORE intriguing story is...he starts an unholy alliance with the Rakosh...The Rakosh wants to avenge his "family", Jack saved him, it saved Jack. I think it's time they meet...what do you think?

Personally I can't stand Gia and I think that Jack would be just as great a character without her as he is with her.

Gia really pissed me off in All The Rage and I was really hoping that she bit it.

I just don't like her at all, but that's just me.

Not a huge Gia fan, either, but she is a necessary evil. She keeps Jack grounded and somewhat focused. Besides, don't we usually hate our best friends girlfriend. We see them as naggy and petty and a little too whiny. But, since we love our friend, we tolerate the woman that makes him happy.

No! Without Gia and Vicky, Repairman Jack would be about the same as Jack Reacher in the novels by Lee Child. Reacher is interesting but he comes off as way too cold and selfish. I can't really like the character - not at all the way I really like Repairman Jack.

Gia has been rather peripheral lately and she can be an annoyance (to us readers) but RJ without his two most important people in the world would just not be "our" Jack.

I would most like to see Gia play a more important part in actually helping Jack fix something. And do it willingly. That would be cool.

Now I'm going to have to try a Lee Child novel (even though you meant it as a bad thing).

Gia Must Stay!!! - Maggers - 10-31-2006

My problem with Gia, and I do have one, is that she is too perfect. She's just the best. Her short, perky blond hair feathers just so. Her blue eyes always gleam, except when they are brimming with tears as she looks at AIDS kids, or lost puppies or anything else guaranteed to make anyone cry. As I've stated a few million times, she wouldn't be caught dead farting or burping, even in private. I wonder if she CAN move her bowels; maybe she is so perfect she can live without that function. I bet she doesn't have bed hair in the morning or wake up with crusties in her eyes.

I just don't think Gia is fleshed out enough. She has flashes of anger when someone tries to push her around (think outside Dragovic's beach house in "All the Rage" when Jack had to sling her over his shoulder to keep her from attracting too much attention). But what else? What other "negative" trait have we ever seen in Gia, aside from her rejecting Jack early on because of his chosen field.

I don't think FPW has given her the kind of time and distinction that he's given to other characters.

But, since Jack needs someone to care about, someone to bring out the humanity in him, I guess Gia is here to stay.
