I enjoyed "My Super Ex-Girlfriend." Luke Wilson was terrific. Uma Thurman made a gorgeous superheroine, hot, wild and crazy, emphasis on crazy. And wonderful suprise for me, the fabulous Eddie Izzard stars as well. He was somewhat restrained, but I'd rather have a restrained Eddie than no Eddie at all. New York City looks great, too.

This movie is light, funny, likeable summer fluff. Given the way it ended, I smell sequel.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.
You may quote me.

That's good to hear. I love movies, but am almost unwilling to invest money, time and energy in going to see one lately. I actually liked the original Pirates, hope the new one is as good.

I saw trailer in Apple movie trailers. Uma Thurman rocked me! That's....totally Supergirl! But she is Supergirl who fell into Darkside...Big Grin

Oh I want to see this one.

Good to hear something positive about this movie. The local paper made it sound like the worst movie of the year which kinda bummed me out cuz I've been lookin forward to seeing it.

Well, sometimes someone say "worst movie of the year". But....hey, now is still July. We have 5 months until end of the year. I haven't seen "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" yet, but as far as I saw trailer, I don't think this is "worst movie of the year".

At least it's not like those movies that come out in Jan and Feb and are dubbed "The Best Movie of the Year".

My wife liked it. I didn't. G-Girl is mean, vindictive and petty. I know that's the point of the movie but the whole time I kept thinking 'What if this were a guy?' No one would think these things are funny; it would be disturbing. They rev you up pretty early for what the pay off is going to be and quite frankly, it wasn't enough. I think this would have been a better movie if someone who has an actual appreciation for the super hero mythos had directed instead, like a Kevin Smith or someone like that.

I want to see this one, looked like a good catch. Thanks for positive feedback, critics didn't seem to like it much.

Ditto.

Bedlam was supposed to be an evil villain, yet we never saw him do anything evil (that bit of shenanigans with meteor was more Wilson's doing than Bedlam's--having henchmen does not an evil villain make; if the film had shown his evil doings, the ending would have worked better, IMHO. Some good laughs, but it fell apart at the end, where Benny Hill took over direction of the film. Uma Thurman's neurotic performance was spot-on though.

It is not the worst movie of the year; not even close. I saw it and thought it was hilarious. I liked Eddie Izzard as Bedlam in this. True, he was no real super villain like you would see in a Spidey movie, but he'll give you some laughs. I liked it better than a lot of movies I saw this year, especially Superman which nearly put me to sleep.
