My first RJ novel was "Legacies", which is the most unusual of the books, in that it is primarily a action/adventure book. I read the others, not expecting at all to find any horror or fantasty elements in them, so it took some adjusting.
Also, I notice that some of the books focus on the fix-it aspect of RJ, and other books don't have much of the fix-it in them, and they simply advance the Rasalom story along. Again, it gives each book an individual personality apart from the rest of the series.

tehuti Wrote:I had a similar introduction to FPW recently. I just started a new job a few weeks ago and a Crown Books outlet is walking distance from the office. I was in there at lunch time the other day looking for a book to read on my lunch hours when I discovered Conspiracies. It was the only book in the whole place that sounded even remotely interesting. Suffice to say after a chapter or two I was hooked!

It's funny that I just now stumbled upon this author's work because I have been a big fan of Robert Anton Wilson's work since the early 80s and I always see FPW titles when I look for something by RAW. But I never considered picking any of them up until now. And it turns out that I really like the Repairman Jack character.

So, yes, I'm late to the party. But all that means is I have plenty of catching up to do.

Welcome to the board,tehuti.

I'm sure you'll enjoy other FPW's works. I recommend "Black Wind" and "Sibs"......oh, you already read them?!

I kind of envy you because you have so much great reading ahead without having to wait for a new book to come out. Enjoy.

How are you at Haiku? Join us on said thread, won't you?

Keith,

You're certainly right about me having plenty ahead. I started reading The Tomb before I finished Conspiracies, which I just finished yesterday. I also picked up the Keep the other day and Legacies just this afternoon. So as soon as I plow through all of those maybe I'll continue on with the Adversary Cycle. We'll see.

Sucks when you finally run out of new titles to read. I'm thinking about giving the Lanugue (is that right?) books a try. Never been into the Scifi scene but all the books I've tried to read lately have flat out sucked.

Legacies was my first. I read it on vacation and thought it was pretty alright. It stuck with me so I bought Conspiracies, devoured it, and bought All the Rage through Crisscross the next day.

I borrowed my Aunt's Bookclub eddition of the Keep. At the time i was a big fan of Stephen King & James Herbert horror books.

The cover looked cool so I borrowed it.

Needless to say it was way better than the King & Herbert stuff. So good i bought my own copy despite having read it already.

That must have been over 20 years ago

Read so many times onto my third copy now.

You never forget your first time Wink
