The black stuff is the Venom symbiote. Spider-Man had it before it went to another guy who eventually became Venom.

The one thing that bugs me about that teaser/trailer is that some of the scenes look more like they are in black and white instead of color film of black and white (make sense?). That may just be a re-editing issue.

Is the Venom suit going to be the "original" or the "Ultimate" version? Since there will be no "Secret Wars" in the films (which would be pretty neat, I must say) it is likely the "Ultimate" edition which I understand is some sort of cancer treatment. If anyone knows details of this, please post....
