The black stuff is the Venom symbiote. Spider-Man had it before it went to another guy who eventually became Venom.

That shot of him hanging upside down staring at his reflection in the window was inspired by a similar shot in the Spiderman animated series that used to run on FOX.
Can't wait to see what Venom's gonna look like.

The one thing that bugs me about that teaser/trailer is that some of the scenes look more like they are in black and white instead of color film of black and white (make sense?). That may just be a re-editing issue.

Is the Venom suit going to be the "original" or the "Ultimate" version? Since there will be no "Secret Wars" in the films (which would be pretty neat, I must say) it is likely the "Ultimate" edition which I understand is some sort of cancer treatment. If anyone knows details of this, please post....
Other than that, I'm giddy with anticipation for this movie!
