Maybe you should give us some Repairman Jack PREQUELS? Rather than writing the YA series, give us adult fans some Jack to read from his fateful day at the overpass and up.

Actually, I'm all for your YA series, I'm just trying ot get some additional RJ novels out of you for my own selfish reason.

But, a YA Jack series is just what the Doctor ordered to spark interest in reading again. There are just too many "fantasy" series out there in the vein of Harry Potter and not enough "weird crime."

well they like to read up to the age of 8, just set your target audience a little younger. i have a seven year old who loves stories about monsters, action, adventure...pretty much what RJ is all about.

Yeah that figures. Well some kids still like to read. Write for those who appreaciate your work.

I'm with Scott - the YA Jack series as planned is the way to go. I can see the YA Jack being every bit as popular as Harry Potter (or more!), just without the magic spells.

Besides - you have a "secret weapon" in all of us "grown-ups" who are already fans of RJ. We're all readers and so I'd bet that those of us with kids have at least one kid that also loves to read. And I, for one, will be buying the YA books for myself, if for no one else anyway.

I'll be buying two sets. One for my collection and one for me and my boys to read. Then, I'll probably buy other sets to pass out to nieces and nephews and neighborhood kids. I can only make so many new RJ fans out of adults, but with the kids? I can make a whole bunch!

Well Dr. Wilson, it seems as though you have a heavy burden to bare. You might be the last chance that older teens and young adults have to break this ugly trend. :eek:

I don't think the new series will have any problem. There are always going to be a core of young readers that can't wait for a great story, especially one with mystery and fix-its. Teens now a'days are all about retribution, just up Jack's way of thinking. I was just one of those teens, my nose in a book, loosing the world for a while. My love of reading brushed off onto Dan, he was the top book reader many years in a row. His list would amaze his teachers. Dan would often read several books at a time, a habit he learned from YKW. Besides, there is always use eager adults, clammering for more and more.
