I happened to stumble upon "Bugs" yesterday in an old (1992) Fantasy & Science Fiction anthology. I was really grossed out (in a good way), but I couldn't put the book down until I was finished reading. It was a real treat to find this novelet, because I was searching through these books to find stuff by another author. Has anyone read this story?

Abe's raised eyebrows caused furrows in his extended forehead. "Five in twelve hours?"
"Oh, and like you've never had a cranky day?"

It's an excerpt from "Nightworld", but I think I've read it separately as well.

Oh, Stephanie! This is coincidence! Today I got that magazine "Fantasy & Science Fiction; May 1992". Actually, I got it from one of McCammon's board members. He said, "I found that magazine for $1.00 this weekend and I read the FPW story in it. I enjoyed it, but I'm not a collector. Since I don't need it any more, I think you would appreciate it more than I would being you are such an FPW fan."

I had no reason to refuse his offer. Big Grin

Sweet! But I got mine for 10 cents!

Didn't realize it's from nightworld, because I haven't read it yet. It's on the ever-growing list.

Stephanie,
You have to read Nightworld! I know FPW is re-writing some of it to match up with Jack's troubles...........but WOW, what a great book!

You should read NightWorld! I assure you want to read NightWorld after you read "Bugs". Repairman Jack + Bugs....Previously he experienced bug's assault in GATEWAYS. They were cockroaches, mosquitos, killer bees. On the other hand, in NightWorld, they were chew wasps and acid sacs.....can't compare them!!!

One hint - I would highly recommend reading the entire adversary cycle before reading Night World because Night World takes all the characters and plot lines from each of the books and rolls them together. It makes you appreciate this great book even more.
