I don't think so - this CIRCLE as far as I remembered was somhow constructed around the immortality of it's leader and after he met Tara there seems no reason to follow that philosophy anymore.

When I had my "personal Repairman Jack festival" some time ago, I (of course) came across "Hosts", where Lina Wertmüller alias Beth Adams was planning to do a film project about the "Nightmare on the nine". As Bobby - DeNiro of course - has offered his help, there should be not that much trouble in succeeding, so that this short movie or whatever could appear on the 'net or even in small independent cinemas/festivals (where maybe Gia may spot it).
Anyhow - she's also some kind of lose end in my personal AC-Map.

Kenji, in the epilouge of "The Haunted Air", Jack tells Lyle not to worry about those guys. He called the Mikulski btothers. He Told them Bellitos address and said the door was open. They called him the next day and told Jack that they found the name and addresses of Eli's ring.

I just finished it. I hope I'm not offending anyone when I say it was a big step up from INFERNAL. At times it seemed as though Jack was a sort of peripheral character, with the Yeniceri's problems bearing as much importance as his. I'm glad the end didn't let Jack get off entirely untarnished.

This was an very interesting entry, and very different in comparison to early books in the series; you might say it's a harbinger of things to come (I'm sorry). In fact, I sort of see the older Jack novels (I'd say Jack novels in the "classic style" but that might imply that FPW is losing his magic or something, which isn't what I'm trying to say) ending with THE HAUNTED AIR, and GATEWAYS marking the beginning of a more streamlined approach to the stories, full of cosmic lore and more significant advances toward NIGHTWORLD. Fix-its gave way to straight on Otherness-wrangling and bizarro adventures, and so on. An argument could be made that CRISSCROSS proves me wrong, but even that dealt more with a big world domination plot than anything else. Not that I mind. Am I making sense here?

Anyway. I enjoyed the ambiguities left after it ended. Here are some thoughts/ponderings in glorious "bullet-point" format:
  • Did the maniac at the start of HOSTS have any connection to the Yeniseri? It's a longshot, but with it never being explained and all, I dunno.
  • Who was in the Hummer at the end? If it was Davis, I can't see Diana's life getting any better.
  • What was Rasalom referring to that happened 4 years ago? I assume he killed someone (go figure), but I'm in the dark as to the Adversary cycle.
  • Olive from CONSPIRACIES had her eyes cut out. Was that because she was an Oculus, or connected to one?
  • Are the ladies with dogs all one person who changes shape?

"Killed" doesn't begin to cover it. He's referring to events in Reprisal, and you have an interesting read ahead of you. Smile

You really do need to read Reprisal, it will give you a better understanding of how twisted Rasalom is.

SPOILERS ABOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Trilobite Wrote:[*]Did the maniac at the start of HOSTS have any connection to the Yeniseri? It's a longshot, but with it never being explained and all, I dunno.
I doubt it. I think he was your run of the mill pyscho.

I think Cal is the one looking after Dianna.

Read Reprisal.

. The twins did this for the effect of spooking the convention into leaving. She was an innocent.

No, Anya died in "Gateways" and we still see the young one in Infernal.

I may have noted this in another thread, before I'd read Infernal and Harbingers, but the Lady and the Dog, I believe, are multiple manifestations of Mother Earth - with the Dog being the moon?, earth's companion - and may be an interesting third party interventionalist in the cosmic war.

The first scene in the hospital, when Jack says his wife and daughter were brought in and the nurse calls him Mr. Westphalen gave me an idea.

Jack needs a new identity to make himself "legitimate" to the various government agencies.

Why not become Gia's now dead husband? No one knows he's dead except for those involved in what happened in the Tomb. And, if I also recall correctly, because he wasn't around to sign the divorce papers, they would now be man and wife. It would help with a lot of the problems, and he would become Vicky's "natural" father. Solves a host of problems.

I'd like to see how Gia and Vicky survive this and the loss of the baby.

I'd started to suspect the Ally was involved in Jack's losing his family in Infernal. When the line "a spear has no branches" appeared again in Harbinger, I was sure.

I'm sure the old man outside Jack's apartment was Glaeken. Not having read the AC (just the Keep and the Tomb, of course), I'm sure they'll meet soon. Would like to see the AC reprinted in paperback soon, so I can read the updated versions, but want to read what I can now. May get that from a friend.

MAJOR SPOILER WARNING!!!

phantom21 Wrote:Why not become Gia's now dead husband?

Because there's little reason for Jack to have an "official" identity now that Emma is gone.
