Maggers Wrote:Nope, that's the movie which I saw back in the '60's and which was called "The Thing" back then. It stars James Arness as the creature; Carpenter's movie was a remake of that. In my mind, there's always been 2 "The Thing" movies.

Technically, I be;ieve Jim is right, but I've always referred to both versions as The Thing as well. As good as the original is, the remake is my favorite.

The Keep Wink Naah.. Dead in the Water -- we'll see.

"Forbidden Planet" - my favorite SciFi.
"Young Frankenstein" - gotta love Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle in this one.

Was thinking about Casablanca and Citizen Kane, but those kind of rise above the status of a "movie".

You really only need three things: WD-40, Duct Tape, and a pointy stick. If it's supposed to move and doesn't, use the WD-40. If it moves and isn't supposed to, use the Duct Tape. If you want it to move and it doesn't want to, use the pointy stick. The rest of life is easy.

Return of the King.

How many vikings does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The light from the burning monastery is more than sufficient.

May the Norse be with you.

I was going to say Lord of the Rings, it certainly is a Top 5 to me, but if I could only choose one of the three it would be Fellowship. The gathering of heroes and the task reveal are usually my favorite part of any fantasy.
