My B&N had 6 copies, scooped 'em all up to give to friends. And that way, when I shortlist the title, I can say, "Sold all on 1 day--need more!" Wink

And jes' a leetle bit o' blues! Wink Actually, Ken, lemme amplify there. In my own area of Performing Arts, the cruel Bosses do order whatever I want. That's my field of expertise, and I have a proven track record. (My area earned an extra 100 large last year on my shortlists; the district manager himself gave me a raise.) (NOT BIG ENOUGH, MARK!) However, when I venture out of the realm where I am a chieftain unchallenged Rolleyes , when I shortlist, I must truly justify my, uh...special needs. And how better than to show a proven sales record? Plus, turnin' me good buddies onto some fine fiction? Oi ask yez now!

The Meijer near me had 3 copies of Midnight Mass and 2 copies of Gateways. Big Grin

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.
