Mick C. Wrote:An SCTV Christmas - The 2 SCTV Xmas specials, this just came out on DVD and I bought it yesterday, can't wait to see it. Include's Johnny LaRue's famous crane shot.
The Johnny LaRue crane shot has been a running gag in my family since we first saw it on TV. Much of the idioms we use is either from SCTV ("Dialing for Dollar$") or from Monty Python ("Right, right").
Although Monty Python is at the top of my list, SCTV rates a close second. Third would have to be Kids in the Hall, followed by Fridays, Mad TV, and last but not least, Saturday Night Live (loved the 80's version with Eddie Murphy--"Hot Tub"--, Joe Piscapo--"I'm from New Jersey, you from New Jersey?" and Tony Rosado--from SCTV, of course, et al).

P.S. Michael Richards from Seinfield came from the troupe, Fridays. One of the characters he played on the show was similar to Cosmo Kramer--it was this lounge lizard type of guy who served mixed drinks from cans to his dates, believing that that was super cool.
