The "Lone Gunman" added alot to the show. Mulder could always find support from this Motley crew. Most of the time their help was like the three stooges being written in.

Don B Wrote:I was also sad the Lone Gunmen were killed off, they managed to brighten every episode in which they appeared. I will add the episodes featuring them to my list of best X-Files shows. I watched the spin-off series (for as long as it lasted) and though it could have been better I decided the Lone Gunmen were better suited as supporting characters than leads.

I agree, but it was still a pretty damn funny show Smile

What about Mellenium? I thought that was a great show.

I dont know. I started watching "M" when it first came out but, I lost interest I guess. The latest that I have gotten into is The Shield on FOX. That show is great. Vic Mackie kicks ass!!!

I liked Millennium, though I also remember losing interest during the third (?) season. Some people did not like Lance Hendrikson as the lead, too gloomy, but I thought he did a good job. Like a lot of shows, it outlived it's concept or rather the concept, though very cool, was good for two seasons and had to be stretched and modified in order to provide stories for additional seasons. Millennium did not lend itself to one-offs the way the X-Files did.

I agree. I know X-Files is not coming back but, I can soothe myself by re-watching all of the shows I recorded. I got almost all of them up to the 6th season except for two or three.

Oi, you are preaching to the choir, to use a beat to death cliche. I have watched all the X-Files, in order, on DVD, and I miss it horribly. Am I the only one here, though, that liked season 7? Mulder was still there, it was still Mulder and Scully, and I thought it was just as good as seasons 5-6. 8 and 9 were the Doggett and Reyes years, which is hard to digest. I still watch those, but they just aren't quite the same as seasons 1-7.

I have one question though: when they left the series, the specifically said that they were not done making X-Files. They just weren't going to make an hour-long mini-movie every week anymore. Instead, they were going to begin work on a fairly steady stream of X-Files movies. Apparently this was just said to calm the erupting anger of X-Philes the world over that didn't want it to end. I have heard that Duchovney wants nothing more than to do another movie...yet Chris Carter is holding off. Come on Chris, hold to your promise! Until then...there are always the DVD's.

I didnt have the $ for the DVD's. At the time they were on the air I stayed at home and recorded them on tape( I had a real active social life then). I remember some talk about more movies. I was'nt convinced at the time. I'm still not convinced. Even if they did do more movies, it would'nt be the same without David D..

I think what Chris Carter said back then is that he would "like" for the movies to franchise a la Star Trek... but DD and GA were so done with the show at that point, I think it was just a CC pipe dream. I heard a year or two ago that both actors were interested again, so who knows? I would love another movie, but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't hate season 7, I just don't think it's as good as 1-6. However, I really, really, really don't like the last two seasons, except for the season 9 finale. "Supersoldiers" Rolleyes

As far as I'm concerned, once DD and GA left their major roles, the show went to crap. You cant have a long running show like that, that have always had the same people playing the same parts for so long then go and change without having some sort of negative effect on the shows quality. Not only did DD and GA produce great acting, they had a history in the show that you were used to. Changing that really turned me off.
