I realized that, since I first tried to visualize these creatures, I've more or less had a mental image of the reptilian monster from the Kolchak episode entitled "The Sentry." Smile Anyone else in the same position?

I've had a terrible time with my imagining of the Rakoshi, as I've never been able to picture anything other than Chevy Chase as the Land Shark.

Thanks - now all I can picture is Chevy Chase as the Land Shark!

OMG! I thought I was the only one who had that image! I've always felt sort of traitorous about not being able to get beyond it.

Reading is freedom.
The mind soars, no earthly cares,
no limitations.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.
You may quote me.

If anyone has read the New Jedi Order series, the rakoshi seem to me like the evil equivalent of the noghri.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

Here's one of the best renditions of a rakosh.

I believe that is from the Japanese edition of The Tomb.
