If it came back and was like the first 5 seasons I'd watch it. If it was anything like the last 4 I'd rather stick my hand down a garbage disposal.

I really liked the episodes where they were just tracking down a new "X-File Case" each week. When the episodes started focusing on advancing a larger, ongoing plot, I was much less entertained. I liked the new place, new problem, new oddity case episodes much better.

I'm a HUGE X-Files fan. It was terrific the first 6 seasons. It started getting iffy in season 7 (although certainly more watchable than lots of stuff currently on TV), but seasons 8 and 9 were terrible. Agent Dogshit really gets on my nerves and don't get me started on Moronica Reyes...

Mulder leaving really killed the show.

Yes, I am an X-Files fan and I still like to watch old episodes. As others have mentioned I also like the earlier episodes better, perhaps through season six. I don't have any dislike of the Doggett or Reyes characters but the show was about Mulder and Scully as much as alien invasion or bizarre cases. Those two characters were great and replacements could only pale in comparison. My only complaint about the alien invasion storyline was it seemed after a while that the writers were making it up as they went in order to keep the show going. But my favorite epsodes are the funny one-offs (ie. "Jose Chung's From Outer Space", "Small Potatoes", "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose", "War of the Coprpophages", "Humbug", and so on). I would love to see another X-Files movie, one that told this kind of story.

was it just me or was the "Lone Gunmen" episode where they were buried among war heroes at the end, a sad episode.

I miss the Xfiles. It is my favorite TV show of all time.

The writing of the X files was genius to say the least. Personally,I can't see it ever being topped. Look at all the wannabee shows that have come out and failed. Only 'Lost' has been any good.

So what is your favorite episode? My favorite monster one was Tooms- the one where the guy would stretch his body real thin and sneak down chimneys and creepy things like that.

My favorite funny episode was Jose Chungs From Outer Space- That was classic... Mulder kept eating a piece of pie b4 every question he asked that waitress. And how can you not love Alex Trebek and Jesse Ventura as the men in black.

Man... now I'm gonna have to throw on my X file vhs tapes.

By the way, there are rumors that another X file movie might come out. Supposedly it's a one shot story with nothing to do with the story arch. Can't remember where I heard about it though, so don't get too excited.

I was also sad the Lone Gunmen were killed off, they managed to brighten every episode in which they appeared. I will add the episodes featuring them to my list of best X-Files shows. I watched the spin-off series (for as long as it lasted) and though it could have been better I decided the Lone Gunmen were better suited as supporting characters than leads.
