I didn't feel too much of a drastic change in Gia. Little by little each book she has become a little more relaxed with Jack and his line of work. I just think it's the fact she knows, and has seen now the benifits he does for other people. Gia has known some of his work gets shady, and might not approve, but knowing he is not killing for the mere fact of killing she lets it go.

In Infernal I agree that she kidded Jack a little, but I took it as teasing. The only thing I was a little surprised with was Jack had no problem at all letting her go to opera with Tom. Relationships need to have trust, but knowing Tom's backround, and his obvious attraction... I just can't see how Jack was super cool about it. The way I see it, if someone you don't know or trust wants to take out your significant other, while I might agree with it, I would be a little worried also. Tom's a shady character, it wouldn't have surprised me if he had done something. I mean did he or did he not have the date rape drug??

Charleswg Wrote:I have to agree with Maggers there.... living in NYC area leaves you many options to be poor and middle class while at the same time letting you experience all the "upperclass" events like operas and plays and concerts...either by low prices or connections. Heck- this poor slob (me) has been to Avery Fischer Hall many times.
And afterwards I go to nice dive on the west side- Yogi's (76th and Brdwy).
see how easy it is?

I'd rather go to a movie.

Should have seen me the first night my daughter came home. Me, a father? What if she needs to eat, what if she needs changed? What if she just wants to see me hop around like a scared cat like her mother did for the last nine months? I don't know the differances in her cries! And if she even hesitated in her breathing for a millisecond I was right there. Not on my watch! I did find out that babies are tougher than they look when I mistook Icy-Hot for Desitin! But that's a whooooole nother story in itself. Wink

I agree with you and Maggers. NYC is a culture and arts mecca where that type of entertainment is available for people of all walks of life.

In addition to that, Gia's an artist. And we artsy fartsy types like to see plays, operas and ballets.

That's true Susan. But it's not just in New York. (Not that you implied that it was.) You can find it almost everywhere you care to look.

The notion that ones tastes can be determined by ones economic status is ridiculous.

My late wife was a perfect -- and not uncommon -- example of that. Her mother was raised on a farm, her father, the son of a cabinet maker, ran the printing presses for a newspaper. Kaye danced ballet, was in a play that won the Dominion Drama Festival in Canada, she played classical piano, and numerous other "artsy fartsy" things.

I'm sure that if we care to look, we can find many very wealthy people who have quite mundane or "common" tastes as well.

You are correct, sir!

And by the way, it's great to have you back!

Thank you. I'm finding a little more time these days.

(Although I don't know how coherent I'm going to be when I see FPW this afternoon. Not after pulling an all night work-a-thon.)
