I think it's pronounced "no." I remember it as the inverted and rotated "e." I can't remember the meaning, but it seemed to always stand alone, like "the" or "of." There are simpler and more complex characters, but I'd need to review them again as it took me weeks of practice to memorize them. English has 26 letters. Japanese has three alphabets; two have combined over 50 letters, and I never approached counting the number of Kanji characters needed in daily life.
