Well...have to say I liked it!! Funnier than I expected, and well made. Lot of people in the film that I was happy to see. And Sandler did a good job. Funny without being his old self. Kevin Nash was great. Burt actually taking a shot from Bosworth. Sandler taking on Romanowski - I'd like to know what was going through Adam's mind before shooting that scene. I've seen Bob Sapp before on tv. In a word - frightening. (Was this The Longest Yard or The Green Mile?) But where in the hell did they find Dalip Singh?!?!?! 7'2", 400lbs.....of muscle???? Freakish.
I still prefer the original to the remake but I definitely wasn't disappointed. Maybe I just expected a real turd and was served a turd-substitute instead?

A Fistfull of Dollars is a good example. Another remake that I liked was The Ladykillers. While no one can touch Alec Guinness, The Coen version had some scenes that were "Dark Comedy" at it's best. I remember a theater full of people laughing at the third or fourth body being dumped off the bridge onto the trash heap.
I don't like the fact that most remakes are just cash-grabs. I'd like to see more effort put into origional material. So many movies are just made to cash in on the success of other films.
All-in-all, I'd say, while we are getting more crappers now than ever before, we're also getting some truely "great" films too. Kill Bill (combined) and Sin City will go down on the all-time great list. So will many others from the early 21st century.
