Legion Wrote:Sir, if I may, If you were to completely rewrite Nightworld, a Nightworld 2.0 so to speak, you could therefore tie in far more things. It would also greatly extend the life of the individual RJ novels, therefore being able to build the characters even further.
I have actually held off reading nightworld, for fear of what might happen to our boy Jack, since I am sure the character has greatly matured in the ten+ years since you wrote it.
I believe this would go against the spirit in which "Nightworld" was originally written. As much as we love RJ, "Nightworld" is NOT an RJ novel. It's a novel that features Repairman Jack as one of the characters, he's part of an ensemble cast. To expand on his character more would do the entire book an injustice, IMO. We already are getting 10+ novels that focus on RJ. When it comes to "Nightworld" the focus shifts again to the "core" Adversary Cycle.
I find it the perfect ending to the RJ saga. I know a lot of RJ fans out there want to see him take a much bigger role in the finale, but it wouldn't feel right. All it needs is a few tweaks here and there to bring it up to date and it should be perfect.
