A very odd thing happened to me. I had decided to read through all of the RJ books again. (As I was reading, I realized that I did not have a copy of Gateways. That is also odd, but that isn't what I am talking about).
While I was well into my reading, I got an e-mail message from Count Audoin de Dampierre, who is the owner of Dampierre Campagnes. He had heard that I had been writing about his wines, and he thanked me for doing this. I explained to him that he must have mistaken me for someone else as I had never had the pleasure of drinking a Dampierre before. (And yes, I did confirm that it was the real Count Dampierre).
Well, shortly therafter, I started reading "All the Rage" again, eager because of all of the wine references, especially all the Bordeaux references. What happens next? I had totally forgotten this, but what is the champagne that Milos' supermodel girlfriend drinks? That's right, Dampierre. Of the tens of thousands of winemakers in the world, I get a mysterious message from one whose wine I am just about to read about in a RJ book. Wierd, huh?

The repairmanjack.com webmail just received 2 spams back to back: one from "Abrahams" and one from "Grossman."

Was it the "help a Nigerian out with a million dollars" spam or was it the "cheap pharmaceuticals" spam? In any event, Abe must really be hard up for cash. Big Grin

Oh Falcon, have we taught you nothing?????

Thank the Count politely for his inquiry into your book, and subtley, oh so subtley, remark to him that if you were to have access to more of his fine product you would have a greater spectrum of reference for your work.

Besides, the Otherness can't be out to get you. Its been busy stalking me for the last two years.

After reading your post, I picked up my book "Thunderhead" and after about five minutes it talked about Petrus! That was also in ATR! I don't know wine any more than I can read Sanskrit, but............! I also ran across a few mosquitoes in Missourie that where big enough to be considered chew wasps! Big Grin
