For what it's worth, I'm allergic to chocolate, but I do eat it sometimes. I just deal with the itching that ensues afterwards. 
But I agree, it may be an inconsistancy that should be corrected. It's one thing to choose to eat chocolate and deal with the aftermath; it's a different thing to eat it and not have any ill effects at all.

Well, I just finished the book a little bit ago.
Potential errors be damned; this was an incredible book, top to bottom.
In many of the Jack books, you care more about the situations than the characters involved. It's not that they're not well written--it's just that the nature of the "Jack Universe" makes the situations so much more . . . interesting.
Crisscross is not like that. In this latest one, you care quite a bit for the secondary characters. As deeply as you care about the situations they find themselves involved in. Because of this, you care about the actions they take and the consequences that follow.
The conclusion alone is so incredibly tightly woven, so perfectly laid out, it's magnificent.

Maybe the chocolate is made with sugar alcohol. Yeah, that's the ticket. Vicky's allergic to real chocolate, not the sugarfree stuff. Don't you just love modern science?

It's possible, but despite the years between the current book's printing and the '84 printing of The Tomb, in the story timeline, a little over a year is all that has passed.

In the Tomb Vicky is allergic to chocolate. But at the end of the book RJ gives her the necklace for protection. She doesn't want it and holds it away like a snake. Earlier the mugger threw it away because it felt wrong. The necklace has healing power to it. I just finished reading the Touch last week. Sometimes when people get healed they feel hurt first before they feel better. Vicky being a healthy child otherwise just had her allergy healed by the necklace and didn't know it right away. Crisscross is later on and in that time she probably did sneak a chocolate and didn't get sick. Now that she's able to have them especially after being deprived of them chocolate would be her favorite. Just my thought.
Then again, the necklace only aids in healing -- and prevents aging -- while one is actually wearing it.
When you get right down to it, why would RJ show Vicky how to pierce the bottom of a chocolate to find out what kind of filling it has . . . if she's allergic to chocolate.
It's simply a mistake . . . everybody makes them.
