I saw The Life Aquatic in theater, today.
As I enjoyed The Royal Tenenbaums, I like this movie. It was very funny and lovely movie. Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Angelica Huston, those two actors and one actress were in "The Royal Tenenbaums". Plus Cate Blanchett, Willem Dafoe(He is funny guy!), Jeff Goldblum.....what a nice casting!
This movie had serious drama, some funny scenes, some fantastic creatures(I LIKE Crayon Ponyfish!). And especially, main theme of "father and son" was very touching. But, one of most important things was it has originality.
And, I can't forget David Bowie's songs by guitarist. But....what was that language? I guessed those songs were not English.

I think the language was Portuguese.

"I just saw this movie and I loved it! In addition to the marvelous Bill Murray, who just keeps getting better and better, it stars Angelica Houston. I could NOT take my eyes off her! What a screen presence, whenever she was on screen, she was all I saw. She had that effect in PRIZZI'S HONOR (another fabulous film), too. I particularly liked that she is proudly middle aged, looking like a powerful, dynamic, redoubtable, sensual and electric woman who makes no bones about her age or her life experiences. For me, she was awe inspiring.
In addition to Angelica, every single member of the cast was terrific. The story is insane and a joy to watch unfold. And it's beautifully shot.
The costumes are hysterical, too. In a non-costume drama, when was the last time you noticed costumes?
This is a must see movie, quirky as the day is long, but so much fun!"

I too enjoyed Life Aquatic. It's a lively , character driven movie with drama and comedy thrown into one nice package. I feel Billy Murray bounced back big time after the cinematic atrocity that was Garfield :o . Not to say that he needed to redeem himself as he's made several other great films.

Thanks for putting that list together. I hadn't realized how many great movies Bill Murray has been in. But seen together like that is a good reminder of his talent...over the years, too.
I have to say that "Groundhog Day" and "Lost in Translation" are in my top five movies of all time.
