I am reading the tomb for the third time and I am wondering if R.J. was in any short stories or novels of FPW. There are some references to som "fix it" jobs he did before the tomb. Nowhere can I find what Jack did for Julio's sister that made Jack and Julio such good friends. If anybody has any information let me know please. Wink

I have to think about your question, but welcome to the board, Jaybird!

Reading is freedom.

Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.

So far there are no tales that take place "pre-Tomb". F. Paul has talked about possibly going back and writing a "Young Jack" novel or two (or three) after he finishes up with the RJ series (when it collides with Nightworld).

Thanks for the information on Pre-R.J.. when was nightworld written? I was able to get a copy from the library and devoured it. It was great! All of the characters from the previous R.J. novels I had read were in it at one point or another. There were hints in the story-line that I might have not read all of the books that were written to completely set up the story. For some reason I had the impression that Nightworld was written before other R.J. novels, but then again, maybe I was going by the copyright dates in the front of the book. P.S. thanks Maggers for the nice welcome. Smile

Yes, some of those other RJ novels were written after that, but don't let that deter you! Those new ones are great! I loved Gateways! I know there is a short story in Barrens and Others. Make sure you read the Adversay Cycle as well. Those are not to be missed!

The first RJ book was written as part of the Adversary Cycle (AC) - The Keep, The Tomb, The Touch, Reborn, Reprisal, Nightworld (1993).

Then in 1998, FPW decided to revisit the RJ character and wrote Legacies followed by the rest of the RJ books. This new series will wrap around and reunite with the AC which is currently being modified to update some technical issues such as cell phones, etc. Check the FAQs for more info.

Hope this makes sense and helps. Welcome to the board

Jim

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

It seems so pointless
Writing Haikus for pleasure
I get no pleasure
