Yeah, that Stephano, I go back a little further to Doug, Julie, Robert (LeBeau from Hogan's Heros) and Brooke (Adrienne LaRussa, Mrs. Steve Segall for a few weeks)

Also, the Y&R :Nina, Leanna (Barbara Crampton from ReAnimator and From Beyond) Victor, Nikki and that Mr. Belvedere-like guy, Douglas

I used to watch Days and Y&R. What cracks me up now is that if I look at the plot summaries on TVGuide.com, they're exactly the same as they were 15-20 years ago. Same characters and everything. Gotta love soap operas. Big Grin

For the record I have to state that I've never watched a daytime soap opera, ever. I can't bear to look at them. They seem so silly and over the top, which, I guess, is the appeal. But not for me.

Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.

Since we're 'fessing up, I'm an ex- "All My Children" addict. I took the twelve steps, weaning myself off the escapades of Tad and Erika, et al, by switching to the less addictive WWF, Hulk Hogan era, until I gave both up successfully. Every now and then, however, I have to watch AMC or WWE for a few minutes to remind myself, "I used to watch this crap," and then turn off the TV, feeling superior to all other Soap addicts.

What about DARK SHADOWS?

That show rocked, and kept moving. If it proceeded in "Soap Time" it would still be on.

And it exposed the kids to classic themes in it's own way: Dracula, Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, Frankenstrin, The Turn of the Screw, Jane Eyre, The Cthulhu Mythos

I went from the Golden Era of Hogan and Wrestlemania (1980's) then lost interest for a while. I found the WCW soon before the NWO infiltration and watched regularly for until about the time McMahon bought out WCW. After that I lost interest fairly quickly.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

McMahon is the Devil. Who else could turn Wrasslin' into a soap? And succeed at it enough to buy out the organization that came up with the idea first? It shames me to see Hogan on this new version of Wrasslin'. Weren't the Hulkster and McMahon enemies at one time--over the steroids trials of the early 90's? Wonder what happened to all the other wrasslers who didn't get invited by McMahon to participate in his new Wrasslin' soap. Heard Rick Rude died. No particulars on how, however...

There I go again, writing an essay.

This question is primarily for F. Paul Wilson, but other doctors and patients may post as well.

What's your take on the current medical TV shows? Grey's Anatomy? House? Scrubs? etc. Do they ring true? Do you avoid them altogether? Or do you just like them for their entertainment value without giving them a medical thought whatsoever?

I'm partial to House. It has a very antagonistic protagonist.

Having earned a double Masters in Biology and Public Health, I stay away from these med shows - I know of no hospital or lab like those portrayed

The closest I came to any of this was the film The Doctor with William Hurt -a pretty good film

I was aware of DARK SHADOWS. Who wasn't, back in the day? My oldest brother was a big fan, but I just couldn't get interested in a show that required watching on a daily basis. Couldn't make that kind of commitment, no matter the content. Can't do it these days, either.

The only soap opera I've ever seen was the one that was in the movie TOOTSIE. Big Grin
