* It is so much easier to sort through topics you are interested in.
* we can keep track of who the registered users are, though not in an Orwellian sort of way.

I think the problem with the avatars is actually with permisions instead. When you join the board you are a junior member and I am not sure if Junior members can have one... I'll see if i can edit that group. Maybe I'll just change the member ship name to Member with the possibility of Uber Member in the future
