I thought this was just another romantic comedy but then.....

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

It could be fun to try and convince someone it was a "chick flick" and watch their reaction when they realize it's a horror movie.

I saw this movie today. I liked it a lot. It does have a few cliche moments and a fight scene at the end, but I thought it was refreshingly original. Cillian Murphy gives another chilling and memorable performance. Rachel McAdams is gorgeous and believable as his kidnapped victim. It does suffer just a little bit from the "if they show this person he/she must play a part later in the movie" syndrome, but it doesn't adversely affect the movie at all. Oh, and Brian Cox is in it!!!! I was a little distracted by this because I kept waiting for more exposition on the background of his character.... which never comes.

I might have to give Wes Craven another try.

He doesn't have a large role, but he elevates the movie with his mere presence ... as usual.
