Thanks Russ. I'm definitely looking forward to that one.

I just watched some more episodes (5-6?) last night on the DVDs I rented from Netflix. It is a pretty good show, though I don't regard it quite as highly as you guys seem to. Nathan Fillion used to be on the sitcom Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place, which I used to like quite a bit.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

Excuse my slightly edited language --

"about freakin' time!!!"

I've been looking forward to this movie ever since it was announced a while back. I'm so happy to hear it's nearing the end of shooting. Won't be much longer now. I can't wait to see it.

Now if only someone will make a "SeaQuest" movie with Rockne O'Bannon doing the script...

Shooting was actually finished this summer. In fact Adam Baldwin is nearly finished shooting another movie. A remake of The Poseidon Adventure.

The premier of Serenity is expected to be April 22 next year in L.A..

That . . . I do not intend to miss!

Different tastes.

Oh well, at least we both liked The Shawshank Redemption.

I think the show is amazing. Very complex characters, interesting story, etc. Too bad Fox (as usual, I must say) didn't realize what they had. Everything about Firefly was great. Unlike anything on television these days.

Don't get me wrong, I like it. I actually liked the two episodes I watched last night quite a bit - "Our Mrs. Reynolds" and "Jaynestown." The characters are growing on me, but I wish the acting were better.

What's wrong with the acting?

You can tell it is acting, and sometimes the dialogue seems to go against character, though I have no specific example. This is common for this type of low budget cable show and usually gets better once the actors settle into the roles. I view this show along the lines of Hercules and Xena, etc, budget and style-wise. I have already noticed it getting better. (I also have to admit that Fillion played a less than genius character on "Two Guys..." so I still see him in that stereotype a little bit.) I just watched episode 8 last night and it has grown on me. I just put in my request for disc 3 (ep 9-12), so obviously I find it entertaining. I gave up on "Kung-Fu" after the first disc.
