This just occurred to me.

Not having a reflection, how......did....Glaeken...................Shave?
(gratuitous pauses to keep within Michael Mann format)

The first safety razor was patented by KIng Gillette in the early 1900's. That means Glaeken would have used a straight razor for several centuries. If he cut himself, how did he apply the styptic? I cannot imagine he had the time or inclination to get the sword blade out every morning to regenerate the damaged tissue.

To me, the most obvious answer would be . . . carefully. Which is how my father shaved.

I read somewhere that in the old days (thousands of years ago) they used to pluck their beards. Ouch!

Maybe I'm missing something. He doesn't have a reflection?

If I remember right (which I may not), he doesn't have a reflection until the end of the book when R-----M dies and he is made mortal. I think he lost his reflection when the power he worked for basically took over his life to use him against the agent of Chaos. I'm sure there are others here that remember this in better detail than I do though. Wink

Glaeken and Rasalom lost their reflections when they became champions for the opposing forces. That's why G took down the mirror at the Inn in the Dinu Pass.

He gets it back after defeating Rasalom at the KEEP. It was explained in Glaeken's conversation with Magda.

For a more detailed explanation, refer to THE KEEP PREQUEL

I forgot all about that, but then I haven't re-read The Keep lately. I'll have to pick up my copy of the signed, limited, super-rare Keep Prequel and look it over.

It's been awhile since I've read "The Keep" also. I remember this in the movie, but not the book. Was this a product of Mr. Mann, or the infamous Mr. Wilson? Smile

Keith had it right. Glaeken took the mirror down in his room at the Inn.

I don't remember the movie.

He hid it in the closet in the movie. I would imagine the same for the book. It's time I picked that book up again! Thanks Ken.
