This may be a question that was answered in some post in the past. I've noticed a lot the FPW books talk about the period in Monroe where a bunch of kids were born deformed. Is there any book that explains WHY this happens in detail? The actual incident at that time?

Blake is correct, and it's not a story for the little ones.

SPOILER!!!

I have Reborn and have read it several times. Maybe it just kept slipping past me. When Carol conceived, that was the moment the other pregnant ones got deformed?

I don't want to give anything away, but read the very last chapter again. It happens in the airplane, plus a lot of other stuff because of it.

SPOILER AHEAD!!

Actually, I believe Medusa's correct that it happens during conception. In the introduction to "Faces" in The Barrens and Others, FPW says the main character "was conceived just about the same time Carol Stevens conceived her child in Reborn."

It's been a while since I read "Reborn," but I thought it was what occured on the plane that allowed the opportunity for the Otherness to "tailgate" on the conception that Carol was undergoing at that moment.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.

I honostly could not tell you wich it is, conception or the experiance on the plane. To me, the plane made sense because she was flying out of there and the R guy sent out a wave of evil. And FPW said around the same time as the conception, I think Carol is only two or three months pregnant when she gets on the plane. That's pretty close. Only theorizing here, FPW knows for sure.

That's another reason I'd say it's the conception and not the airplane at the end. The events triggered from the plane aren't localized. It bathes "the globe below," not just Monroe.

I've thought about that also. It makes sense. I just always assumed (yeah, never assume anything, and we know why) it was the plane. Maybe he just wanted to leave a real nasty gift for his new hometown. The plane to me was when R moved his first pawn in the new game.
