You saw Cats on video and are comparing it to the theatre experience?!?! They just don't compare, IMHO. I have never seen Cats, so I am making a general statement here. Plays are almost always better! In college I saw Guys and Dolls presented by our theater department, and it was 1000 times better than the movie starring Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando.

I will probably never see Cats. I'm allergic to Cats. Now, if they write a musical about Pugs---that I'll see. I've someone working on the music right now.

I agree with Maggers whole-heartedly and that's not only because I love her and her foul mouth so. But Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber has ruined the Musical. I can appreciate the work that went into creating these shows, but it is only the big shows that see Broadway these days while a lot of excellent shows are passed over because they don't have Cameron McIntosh or ALW attached to the marquee.

With that said though I do love Jesus Christ Superstar. I also enjoyed Les Miserables` which was not ALW.

RENT was okay but not worth the hype and Phantom was mediocre in my book. I enjoyed it only because of Michael Crawford whose voice is amazing.

Some plays that were off Broadway that I have thoroughly enjoyed have been;

HAIR and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Loved "Hair" (and I saw it WAAAAY back when) and I loved "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," which I saw off-Broadway. Fabulous!

I am a sucker for Rodgers and Hammerstein; I grew up on them. I think you and I disagree on this, Tony, but I love you anyway.

Kenji, if you want to see Gerard Butler in a different role, rent "Dracula 2000". That's right, the Phantom previously played Dracula! Wasn't he considered for the James Bond role?

Gerard Butler has been considered for BOND but he has since fallen out of favor.

It is my understanding that the actor to be cast as Bond will be someone under 30 with Casino Royale being the next Bond film. Yes, its the same Casino Royale that was initially played as a spoof. The re-imagining, so to speak, will be closer in tone/style to what moviegoers have come to expect from Bond. Just that he will be somewhere between 22 to 29ish.

I have my doubts that a younger more baby Bond will be effective but we will see.

Rehantom- my mom and I saw this and my mom nearly looked at her watch- it was so agonizingly slow and somewhat boring. We'd knew it would get Oscar nommed in set direction/custome which it did.

When you have seen or heard the original Broadway Phantom Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman as Christine, these two actors pale by comparasion. Their voices couldn't capture the haunting beauty of Brightman and Crawford.

Raoul looked like a high school quarterback and the actor portraying him looked like he had just wandered in from THE ALAMO set. (Patrick Wilson as Raoul was indeed in The Alamo).

I wouldn't say it was a waste but it comes pretty close to it.

You're kidding me! James Bond is supposed to be ex-Royal Navy, with a rank of Commander. Even 30 would be on the youngish side. In my perception he should be between 35 and 40.
