In my opinion it's time to give Star Trek a rest. Each series has progressively gone downhill for me since TNG and the movies have been less than stellar.

Maybe in 5 years or so people will be ready for Star Trek again. And if some fresh blood is injected into a new series it may very well be successful.

Even though i am a self labeled Trekkie, I agree that Battlestar Gallactica is much better than Enterprise. I also agree that Trek has been going downhill. I'd say going downhill since DS9 left rather than since TNG, but that's a minor point.

I missed all of Joss Whedon's Firefly even though I never missed Buffy or Angel in the last 3 years. It sounds like the DVD would be worth the investment.

I had never even heard of "Firefly," let alone seen any of it when aired. But based on comments from folks on the board, I picked up the DVD's on Netflix and I am loving them! I recommend them highly.

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.

Matthew Smith Wrote:All right, this is going to sound like I'm randomly name-dropping to make myself sound cooler, but there's a point...

Back when I was still living in L.A., working as a comic artist, I met a guy name Dave Rossi. Great guy, big comic book fan, and he loved my work. All things that really endear me to a person.

Dave worked (and still works) as an associate producer for Rick Berman, who produces Star Trek. At the time, I was doing a little screenwriting, so Dave got me invited in to pitch for ST:Voyager, which was an amazing experience, even if they didn't buy anything. When they cancelled that show, I was given a chance to pitch for the new show, which didn't have a name yet.

So I went to Paramount, sat in an office and listened to an overview of what they were planning to do with the new show. They still hadn't written a bible for the series. As I sat there, I got more and more excited. I thought it was an incredible idea. And the way they were talking about it, I saw all sorts of possibilties for cool things. A lot of the stuff they told me made it into the show, some of it didn't, but boy it all sounded cool.

I pitched a bunch of general ideas, they didn't buy them, and then I moved back to Albany, NY, mainly just to get out of L.A., it's a bad, bad place for a guy like me.

The fact that the show is now cancelled is very dissapointing. It's the only Star Trek show that really excited me since they launched ST:TNG. And besides, I still have their phone number and I was hoping someday to come up with something that they WOULD buy.

Hmmm, Matthew, you must know my best friend from college who used to write ST comics (among others) and wrote all the ST trading cards.... I assume it is a small world?! She, too, pitched some scripts for Voyager, to no avail - although, some of her ideas seemed to show up Rolleyes

Who's your friend? If she did the comic for a while, chances are I've at least heard of her, especially if she was doing the DC Comics version. Most of my close friends are all current or former DC guys.

I will not say goodbye until I have left my mark on this campaign to save Enterprise. The Fat Lady has not sung. She's merely drawing in her next breath. I hope there are others on this board willing to help save Enterprise. It ain't over till it's over.

Any relation to the great Tom Sutton? Wife, maybe? If I remember correctly, Tom passed away a few years ago, but he drew some great comics, Star Trek among them.

As I said, ENTERPRISE have only just started in my area(Tokyo). Tomorrow's episode is No.5 in first season. At last I can see this new series, nevertheless it's gonna cancel? What a hell! Sad
