Mr_Falcon Wrote:I thoughts Sims was just a single book. I was going to order it from Amazon. After looking at this website, I realize it is a series. Can anyone give me the names the books are published under so I can find them on Amazon to buy?

It is also a single book, which I purchased through amazon and read and absolutely loved.

I don't think the book differs in content from the series. Anyone know for sure?

Cemetery Dance is still in the process of releasing "The Sims" in five volumes. These are limited/lettered editions that are mainly for collectors.

There is also a single-volume "Sims" published by Tor/Forge (I think) that combines all five volumes that Cemetery Dance is still in the process of releasing. In order to make all five volumes mesh into a single volume, FPW had to do some minor editing. There isn't any difference as far as plot or characters goes. Your basically reading the same book, it's your choice of whether you want to read it as a single volume or broken up into five volumes.

My reccomendation would be to read the single volume. We won't see the fifth and final volume from CD until the Keep Prequel* is released.

*Don't everyone panic at once, this is an on-going joke and does not refer to an actual work in progress or even work in thought.

I absolutely concur! Sims is an excellent book. Not only did I read it, but I gave my son the geneticist in training a signed copy. Like many of Paul's works, it conveys a wonderful ethical/moral message without in any way being preachy. I think Sims may some day, very soon, be seen as an important book in the field of bioethics; at least I hope so!

Ahh, bioethics! The problem of being so excited about about a concept that the questions are "Can I or Should I!" On one hand, the person is to busy worrying about a concept to even ask "Should I"! On the other hand the guy that say's Why not? we'll figure it out after I've done it. Or the guy that asks the hard questions, and asks these quetions first! I think FPW will help your son greatly! Through his words I think he shows what can happen (although it intrigues me to no end) and he is on target.

Dean Koontz also touched on the issue in Watchers. If we "create" a sentient being, how dare we decide to enslave it?

You are right! (Great book, I bought it the same day as I did The Tomb, Man that's been awhile) I was thinking of Jurassic Park!

Some things just happen. I was reading "Beige" this morning while eating my Cocoa Krispies. Just a couple of stories I hadn't read before. "Hunters" was well worth the price.

So, my morning started with a bit of FPW over breakfast, and then I let our dog out and found an unannounce package on the front porch. Lo and behold, SIMS 4 had arrived! And, CD sent the right number... I've got my matched set, so far...
