As of one day ago, the other baddest-assed Jack on the planet is back in action, shouting, shooting and being violently sane in an insane world.

So far the season is off to a good start. Hopefully it will continue to stay strong and not fall apart like last year.

That was the quickest 4 hours of TV yet. I think season 4 has the chance of being the best so far.

Reasons for that assessment:

1. No Kim Bauer
2. Jack is a bigger badass this year, except the beheading was pretty nuts.
3. No Kim.
4. Better organization of the bad guys. They seem to know what they are doing.
5. Did I mention "No Kim"?
6. Jack going rogue this time is more believeable since his boss is the one kidnapped.

I hope they continue this pace.

24 is my favorite series. Last year, I saw 3rd season. Pretty good. But President scandal was needless.

Hadn't watched it since season 1 but as there wasn't much else on Sunday night, I caught the first 2 episodes of season 4. They were good so I watched the next 2 epsiodes last night. Now I'm hooked for the rest of the season.

I forget. Which beheading? (Don't forget your answer will have spoilers.)

I'm still quite impressed at how the writers can craft a story so well within the confines of the concept. Not too many major problems I've seen with the overlapping story lines and such.

And it's nice to see that the show is willing to make big changes (only Jack and Chloe, as far as I can tell, have returned from last season). Plus, it's nice to know that they spread apart the time between seasons. So that Jack is not having one hellavu bad day every few weeks.

Best Jack Bauer moment ever. It's in Season 2, episode 1. Jack needs to infiltrate a group of domestic terrorists. To do that, he needs credibility. So, he asks his boss to contact the FBI to bring a witness against this group over to CTU for questioning. They bring the arrogant prick over and Jack confirms his identity, noting in the process that the guy was a child pornographer. The kid-porner smugly notes he has immunity to those charges. Jack pulls a gun and quite calmly shoots him point-blank in the chest.

Jack's boss freaks out over having a federal witness murdered in front of him. "That's the problem with you, George," says Jack. "You want fast results but you don't want to get your hands dirty." He then feels for kid-porners's pulse until there is none, at which point he pauses, visibly shifting gears in thought, considers the corpse, and decides, "I'm gonna need a hacksaw."

Best part of that scene is Jack utterly dismissing the moral and legal ramifications of what's he's just done in favor of the practical problems of removing a head from a corpse for transport.

Yeah, that was a great moment! Jack Bauer is the second best "Jack" there is.

BTW, I had to edit it. Since there was no particular reason for Jack Bauer to need a computer geek at that moment.
