Cowpunk is the term. Joe or Pat -- I forget who -- came up with it. This was back in the heyday of splatterpunk fiction. They wanted wild weird/dark fantasy in a western setting: What else to call it but cowpunk?

Well I hope you don't mind, but I've been using it to describe cowboys who couldn't ride a horse if their life depended upon it! You know the guys I'm talking about don't you? We used to call them "Dime Store Cowboys," or "Dude's." But as I haven't ridden a horse or herded cattle in fourty years, I'd probably fall into that catagory myself these days.
