Scott Hajek Wrote:I'm guessing that ALIAS will last no more than two more seasons. The main reason being that the plot lines are beginning to show more holes and there isn't any consistency. The last few episodes have been dealing more with the personal issues and backgrounds of the characters interwoven with a "bad-guys-have-some-new-world-threatening-technology-that-we-must-steal-back/first." The bad guys are getting more evil and the technology more destructive, but the bad guys are so darn stupid. And the world-threatening technology is worthless. Case-in-point: the DNA targeting weapon that is actually a remote-controlled helicopter with a built in tracking device. Couldn't the target just hide until the batteries died or it ran out of ammo and then swat the bug out of the air? What about the laser-enhancing lens that could make a presentation pointer powerful enough to take out a satellite? Why didn't the bad guys just start using it?

At least the Rambaldi device story line had legs. But, the writers cut those out from them.

ALIAS is still entertaining, but getting weaker each week.

SPOILERS COULD ENSUE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I couldn't agree more. I've been hooked since Season 2. Last season actually had some interesting things happening with the amnesia and Lauren (Vaughn's wife), but this season has been consistently dull. I heard before the season started that they picked up a writer or two from "Angel" and I was super-hyped to see what they would add. What happened??? They go back to Sloan being in charge and basically reset everything to Season 1, but with a sister and less interesting plots. These all feel like individual viggenettes (sp) and not a continuous season plot-line. Seriously, what is the thread that's holding it together? There's bits and pieces here and there that have been left open (Jack killing his "wife", but the sister not knowing he did it). There's tons of pseudo romance between the characters and lots of friction with Sloan, but there's nothing tying each episode together except for the characters. That's what made this show so great, the over-reaching plot-line that spans each season. It's missing, and it's sorely missed.

Dave, I couldn't agree more, I LOATHE the new opening. Hey, it's the JENNIFER GARNER SHOW!!! (disco-version of the theme song comes on, various shots of jennifer garner in her costumes). UGH. Give me back the black screen, the rotating titles, and the cool version of the theme song.

That's it exactly. The Jennifer Garner Show. Watching TV shows on DVD I usually skip the opening credits, but Alias I always let run, it pushed the right buttons, even if I'd just watched the three previous episodes on the same disc.

Can't see that happening now.

As to the lack of arcs, I'd heard they were going that way. Apparently they went too arc oriented in S3 so they're swinging back to episodic. I prefer arcs and think a show in its fourth year should not be taking a step back. But trust you Americans, ratings are up, its got a 5th season, so something worked (although this may have more to do with the success of Lost than the episodic format).

It has all to do with the success of Lost.

I didn't start watching Alias till this season. I really like it. The reviews I read said this is the best season since season 1. I guess you guys don't agree.

I saw season 1, 2, 3, 4.

What's your favorite scene in Alias? My favorite one is from season 2. Sydney visited to Japan. And she did disguise of Japanese Geisha. Well, that's okay.

But this is it! Seems Japanese ambulance, but I couldn't stop laughing. What is "Chi he so yu ku chi ho te na" ? Big Grin

The Japanese version of Eeny Meeny Miney Moe? The traditional way Death chooses which ones live and which ones die.

As for my favourite scene, I imagine it involved Jennifer Garner in less clothes than a Geisha ;o)

I don't know about Eeny Meeny Miney Moe, but those characters on ambulance are Katakana, and they don't make sense.
